You Become The Night by STAB

You Become The Night

“You Become the Night” moves in waltz time at a measured 112 BPM, and STAB uses that three-beat sway to let the verses breathe before the choruses open up into something genuinely anthemic. The shimmering guitar work in the quieter sections recalls the more restrained side of The Bangles, and the payoff when the rhythm section kicks in fully earns its cinematic scale. Nearly five minutes of instrumental storytelling is a commitment, but the dynamic arc between the reflective verse textures and those driving, reverb-soaked chorus surges keeps it moving. A highlight, and a reminder that STAB works just as well without words as with them.

Lyrics

The overcast stillness takes its toll upon my prose A constant ticking of the clock acts as if it knows Some other senseless parable you shape until it flows In the end it matters not - the music always goes

When you finally decide to open your eyes Let go the dreams you keep locked inside The fears overtake but the darkness provides Where the truth that you fear has nowhere to hide You become the night You become the night

You feel the tether pulling tight, a thread the night bestows A silent force that shapes your name in ways you never chose You fear the shape you’re turning into - only darkness knows But even running from yourself still takes you where it goes

He told me I would find my voice before the waiting crowd But not the where or when or how, just “speak your truth aloud” These many years the echo stayed - both blessing and a shroud I lived my life and waited still, for what the night allowed
